Initially I was going to photograph some of the beautiful strawberries that are now ripe in our garden; however, since I did that just last year, I opted for a slightly different take on the topic. Therefore, in case you don't live in these parts of eastern Iowa, allow me to introduce the so-called world's largest strawberry that resides atop a pole in Strawberry Point, Iowa. According to information on the web, this enormous fiberglass red berry was erected in 1967, sits 15 feet high, is 12 feet wide and weighs 1,430 pounds. If you are in Strawberry Point the big berry is easily visible as it sits just above City Hall near the intersection of Highways 3 and 13.
