Giants?

Miguel de Cervantes' famous Don Quijote character attacks windmills as he believes them to be giants.  And, from that notion comes the phrase tilting at windmills and refers to attacking imaginary enemies or evils.

“Do you see over yonder, friend Sancho, thirty or forty hulking giants?

I intend to do battle with them and slay them.”
