Recently my husband and I spent a day bicycling on the Heritage Trail that links Dubuque, Iowa to Dyersville, Iowa via a former railroad route. Flanked by everything seen in this image, including bluffs, the forest, waterways and cropland, it provides a picturesque view of this region at the height of summer. Although the path is not hard surface, while riding I quickly forgot about the crushed limestone as I was absorbed in the scenery, forest canopy overhead and the sights and sounds of wildlife in all directions. Ahhhhh... something beautiful.
"If the path be beautiful,
let us not ask where it leads."
