More from Door

"Genius is a bend in the creek where bright water has gathered,
and which mirrors the trees, the sky and the banks.
It just does that because it is there and the scenery is there.
Talent is a fine mirror with a silver frame,
with the name of the owner engraved on the back."

Eye to the Sky

Wow!  In the past few days Mother Nature treated us in these parts to some amazing colors with the rising and setting of the sun.  Ahhhh....something beautiful just outside my door.

Show's Still Open

A few days remain to see my artwork in the current exhibit @ PLANTED! in downtown Dubuque, Iowa.  The address is 245 West First Street.  This business is open everyday except Mondays, and if you love plants as well as art, this is the destination for you.

These photos feature some of my selections with more to see in the shop.  Most of my pieces are framed and ready for a tabletop or wall display.  In addition, there are a few small items that are featured in a clear case that also double as a magnet.  These are unique and make great gifts.   All are available for purchase, and that may be done during your visit to or contact with PLANTED!

Cave Point

"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf."
                                                                            --John Kabat Zinn

The above quote resonates with me as it seems that for the last few years I have done a lot of surfing and often it does not feel glamorous nor even desirable.  However, a good thing that has emerged from my surfing is that I have allowed myself to acknowledge ALL of my emotions, feelings, and experiences,  including those that feel terrible.  And, I have also given myself time to do things that I truly love, including more time devoted to being creative and sharing my art as well as spending a lot of time on or near water.

The latter is evident as I recently spent a chunk of time in Door County Wisconsin.  That area, especially in summer and early autumn, in my estimation, is divine.  These images are from Cave Point where the waves roll into the rocks and Mother Nature treats all visitors to her version of a sound bath....ahhhhhh....something beautiful.

Beautiful Blooms

Hibiscus -- they are stunningly beautiful.  Anytime.  Anyplace.  For the past few weeks in these parts I have been treated to seeing these enormous and gorgeous blooms -- it is like getting a surge of joyful energy that fills me with inspiration and stirs my creative juices.  Indeed, something beautiful.

“Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature.”

Solo Show to Open

This coming Friday, Sept 2, from 6-8 pm, is the opening reception for my solo art show at PLANTED! in downtown Dubuque, IA.  In this collection I've created work that features designs built on a grid as well as others that are free-flowing and organic in their composition.  And, as shown in the image directly below, I also included some of my colorful pieces that incorporate blooms along with a gemstone.  They are stunning, and it is fun to explore the different creations.

What:  Opening Reception

Where:  245 West 1st St  /  Dubuque, IA

When:  Friday, Sept. 2 / 6-8 pm
