As a remnant of summer still standing in the tall grass along the riverbank, this abandoned avian abode seemed to invite me to take its photo. So simple yet also representative of the "empty-nest" reality I frequently hear folks describe. Therefore, I found the black and white version of this image best suited to relay the feeling of a cold, gray winter as well as some of the conflicting emotions parents may experience as their children leave home.
